Daily Five privacy policy
Effective October 15, 2026
Daily Five is published by Wittenberg Digital for iPhone and Android. It's free to download, and a yearly subscription unlocks everything. It has no ads and no accounts, and never asks for your name, email address, contacts or location. This policy explains the little it does collect and why.
Stays on your device
- Your scores, streaks, streak shields and the history of every game you've played.
- Your reminder setting and time.
- Your choice about sharing usage statistics.
None of this is sent to us. Deleting the app deletes it. If your phone backs up app data to iCloud or your Google account, the backup can include it, stored under your account. We can't see it.
Using your device
- The optional daily reminder is a notification scheduled on your device. It isn't sent through a server, and we never learn when it's set for.
- If you tap Share, the app passes a short summary of your result to your phone's share sheet. It goes only where you choose to send it.
Anonymous usage statistics
Unless you turn statistics off, the game sends us anonymous events so we can tell which parts of it are used, spot questions that are too hard or possibly wrong, and check that updates arrive. Every event contains only its name, the platform (iOS or Android), the app version, the app's own ID and the details below. Examples:
- That the game was opened. We count one open when you start it, and another when you return to it after 30 minutes or more away.
- Which screens are viewed.
- That a game was started or finished, with the Daily Five number, whether it was today's or a past day's, and at the end the score and your current streak.
- For each answer: which question it was, its category and difficulty, and whether it was right.
- That a result was shared, with its score.
- That the reminder was turned on or off, and from which screen.
- That a newer set of questions was downloaded, with its version number.
These events carry no device ID or other identifier, and our server doesn't store your IP address with them, so they can't be connected to you or to each other. We can't tell which days you played or follow your scores over time.
Turning statistics off
Open Settings in the game and turn off Share anonymous usage statistics. The game then stops sending usage events. Everything else works the same.
New questions
From time to time the game downloads its latest questions from wittenbergdigital.org. The request names only the platform and app version. Like any website, the server receives your device's IP address when the game connects to it.
The subscription
On iPhone and iPad, Apple sells and bills the subscription through the App Store, under your Apple Account. The game asks the App Store on your device whether your subscription is active. To cancel, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions.
On Android, Google sells and bills the subscription through Google Play, under your Google account. The game asks Google Play on your device whether your subscription is active. To cancel, open the Google Play app and go to Payments & subscriptions.
We never receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple and Google give us only their standard sales reports.
What we don't do
- We don't show ads, and the game contains no code from advertising companies.
- We don't sell data or share it with data brokers.
- We don't use your phone's advertising identifier, create a device ID, or register your phone for push notifications.
- We don't use your location or contacts.
- We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
If you've chosen in your phone's settings to share diagnostics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports and usage totals for the game. That comes from your phone's settings, not from the game, and you can turn it off there.
Changes and contact
